Permit for street performances - application

German version

The permits for January 2025 will be handed out on Monday, the 16th of December 2024. Please note that reservations for permits for January 2025 need to be made until the 9th of December 2024 at latest.

General information

You need a permit for street performances in public space in districts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 in Vienna.

Street performances are short, free of charge performances without stage-like equipment taking place in public space and include

  • musical shows
  • lectures
  • dance and vaudeville performances
  • pantomimes
  • magical shows
  • puppet shows and portrait drawing

Please note that the time slot and location for your street performance are allocated to you. You cannot make a reservation for a specific location or time slot. The permit for a specific month lists dates on which street performances are allowed in specific locations.

Requirements

You must be at least 16 years old to acquire a permit for a street performance.

Deadlines

You can submit the application at any time.

If you want to get a permit for the following month, please note

  • that you submit your application no later than the 15 th day of the previous month
  • and that permits are issued on the last Monday of the month for the following month.

Mondays to Wednesdays from 8 am to 12 noon, Thursdays from 8 am to 5 pm. Fridays from 8 am to 12 noon. Opening hours on Good Friday, 24 and 31 December from 8 am to 12 noon; closed on public holidays.

Fees

EUR 6.54 per permit

You have to pay the fee in cash when you collect the permit.

Further information

The permit must be visible to officials at all times during the performance.

The locations at which a permit is required are listed in the Straßenkunstverordnung (Ordinance of the City of Vienna regarding the rules applying to street performances).
