President of the Vienna Provincial Parliament Woller travels to China
China wants to learn from Vienna's social housing model and to cooperate even more in the cultural sector.
As part of his trip to China from 1 to 14 January 2025, Ernst Woller, President of the Vienna Provincial Parliament, visited four major cities and presented Vienna's social housing model. He participated in numerous high-level discussions, e.g. with Vienna Airport's Member of the Executive Board, Julian Jäger, and discussed existing and future cultural cooperation. In Chengdu, Vienna's sister city and the largest city in west China, Woller met with Pubu Dunzhu, Vice Governor of Sichuan Province and Wang Fengchao, Mayor of Chengdu. He presented Vienna's social housing policies to experts from the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. He attended afterwards an important meeting in Shenzhen with Dai Yunlong from the Shenzhen Municipal People's Congress.
After several rounds of discussions, which also took place in Vienna, Julian Jäger, agreed with the city of Xi'an on the third direct flight connection between Vienna and China. Hainan Airlines, the largest private airline in the People's Republic of China, connects Vienna with Shenzhen and Chengdu, the provincial capital of Sichuan since December 2024.
