At the end of September 2024, the kick-off meeting for the forward-looking project "Improving the audit function with artificial intelligence" of the City of Vienna Court of Audit and the eight Austrian regional courts of audit took place.

The EU is funding this project as part of the Technical Support Instrument (TSI) programme. The programme is designed to provide member countries with tailored technical expertise to help them develop and implement reforms. The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is managing the project.

One of the reasons for submitting the project was that public sector audit institutions are faced with an ever-increasing volume of data. It is therefore necessary to adapt working methods and integrate new technologies.

Participants of the kick-off meeting in Vienna were the representatives of the OECD, the EU, directors of the Austrian regional courts of audit and the deputy director of the City of Vienna Court of Audit, Wolfgang Edinger, as well as data and AI experts from auditing institutions. They outlined the guidelines for the project and defined the next steps.
