Online city map with address search – help and instructions

The wien.at online city map allows you to search for any address in Vienna and provides comprehensive information on the city, covering a variety of topics, such as the public transport network, official institutions or cycle paths.

Address search

Enter the address you wish to search for (street name, with or without house number) in the text box at the top left of the window (labelled "Enter address").

Provided that you have entered a valid and unambiguous address, the result is displayed at the centre of the map, circled in red. If your search has produced several results, they are listed at the left, below the heading "Results of address search”. Select the address of your choice from the list by clicking on it.

Activating map content

The city map offers a variety of detailed information (content) on Vienna. Simply tick the type of information you want to see in the list at the left (below "Show on the map"), and it will be displayed on the map immediately. New content options are being added regularly, making the city map ever more useful. If the content options are not displayed in your current view of the city map, click on the heading "Show on the map" to display the list of options available.

The zoom function

Since the map size is automatically adapted to the size of your browser window, some of the information you want may not be displayed at every map scale. In this case, you can zoom into the map to see more details, e.g. to read the names of smaller streets.

There are different ways to zoom in our out:

• using the scroll wheel of your mouse
• using the navigation bar near the right map margin
• double clicking on the map
• pressing the + or – button of your numeric keypad
• clicking on the icon "Zoom in" (the middle one of the three icons at the top left of the map window; you will then need to click on the left icon to display the map details again).

System requirements

The new online city map can be used with all standard web browsers, such as Internet Explorer (version 6 or higher), Mozilla Firefox (version 3 or higher) and Safari (versions 3.5 and 4.x.).
It is based on JavaScript, which is conventionally activated for web browsers.
