WIDES Database for disinfectant manufacturers
The current selection of disinfectants included in the database was made by the publishers of the database and is based on the following criteria:
- Quality of the product composition information published by the manufacturer
- Confirmation of the effectiveness of the disinfectant products by independent institutions
- Availability of the products on the Austrian market and their use by the City of Vienna
The products currently included in the WIDES Database have been tested and listed either by Austrian Society for Hygiene, Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (Österreichische Gesellschaft für Hygiene, Mikrobiologie und Präventivmedizin) (OEGHMP) or Association for Applied Hygiene (Verbund für Angewandte Hygiene (VAH)). Information regarding additional listings by the Robert Koch-Institut (RKI) or - for the food sector - by Deutsche Veterinärmedizinische Gesellschaft (DVG) has been included in the database.
Prerequisites for inclusion in the Database
Disinfectant manufacturers wishing to have their products included in the WIDES Database may apply to the Vienna Ombuds Office for Environmental Protection (Wiener Umweltanwaltschaft - WUA) to have their products entered, provided they fulfil the following requirements:
- Indication of a product frame formulation stating all the active ingredients contained in the product and their exact concentrations
- Up-to-date product data sheet and safety data sheet
- Documentation evidencing the listing of the respective product in the list of expertises published by Österreichische Gesellschaft für Hygiene, Mikrobiologie und Präventivmedizin (OEGHMP) or
- Listing in the list of disinfectants published by Verbund für Angewandte Hygiene (VAH) or
- Presentation of two independent expert opinions testifying to the product’s compliance with the criteria and evaluation methods currently required for a listing by OEGHMP or VAH. The appraisal of the expert opinions submitted is subject to a fee.
