Business promotion – ways to implement gender mainstreaming

Although women and men, legally speaking, are on an equal footing women are still discriminated against in their working lives. Women on average earn 25 percent less than men and are less often found in management positions. Women are still a minority in traditional male professions and branches.

Supporting women in technology and research

The Vienna Business Agency offers additional premiums for research and technology projects in small and medium sized enterprises run by women or supported substantially by female staff. The decision-making committees are made up of women and men in equal numbers. Projects at the different funding levels are assessed as to their gender-related features and to the extent these are integrated into planning.
