Democratic Belarus. Crucial for Peace?
7. 2. 2025
10:00 bis 11:30 Uhr
Hahngasse 6/1/24, 1090
The last years have demonstrated that the consequences of developments in Central and Eastern Europe are not confined to this region alone but have a profound impact on the European Union as a whole. Belarus serves as a prime example of this dynamic.
In this discussion, we will analyse the current situation in Belarus, including violations of human rights and freedoms, as well as security threats for the Baltic states and Europe arising from the current regime.
We will also examine the democratic opposition’s vision for Belarus‘ future and the crucial role played by its immediate EU neighbours, such as Lithuania, in supporting democratic forces. Finally, we will discuss the efforts of both Lithuania and the Belarusian opposition in aiding Ukraine’s resistance to the Russian invasion.
