European electoral roll for non-Austrian EU citizens – registration
General information
Do you want to vote for the Austrian members of the European Parliament in the next elections to the European Parliament? If yes, you have to submit an application for registration in the European electoral roll.
You have to meet the following requirements:
- You are not an Austrian citizen but you are a citizen of an EU member state other than Austria (non-Austrian EU citizen).
- You are over 14 years of age.
- You have your primary residence in Vienna.
You are eligible to vote in the elections to the European Parliament if you have reached the age of 16 on or before election day.

Requirements
You can apply for registration in the European electoral roll if you meet the following requirements:
- You are not an Austrian citizen but you are a citizen of an EU member state other than Austria (non-Austrian EU citizen).
- You are over 14 years of age.
- You have your primary residence in Vienna.
Please note
You are eligible to vote in the elections to the European Parliament if you have reached the age of 16 on or before election day.
Deadlines
Your registration in the European electoral roll remains active as long as you have your primary residence in Austria without interruption.
If you do no longer have your primary residence in Austria you will automatically be removed from the European electoral roll.

Documents required
If you want to apply for registration in the European electoral roll, you can do so in writing (also by e-mail) or in person. You cannot apply over the phone!
You need the following documents:
- Completed and signed application form "Antrag auf Eintragung in die Europa-Wählerevidenz für Unionsbürger(innen) die innerhalb des Bundesgebietes ihren Hauptwohnsitz haben" (application for registration in the European electoral roll for EU citizens with a primary residence in Austria)
- Completed and signed personal data form "Europa-Wähleranlageblatt"
- Proof of identity:
- Application in writing (e-mail, fax): copy of your identity card (passport, photo ID)
- Application in person: please bring your identity card (passport, photo ID)

Further information
Please note that non-Austrian EU citizens are not eligible to vote in the elections to the Vienna City Council.
You are automatically eligible to vote in the elections to the district councils in Vienna if you meet the following requirements:
- You are not an Austrian citizen but you are a citizen of an EU member state other than Austria (non-Austrian EU citizen).
- You are over 16 years of age.
- You have your primary residence in Vienna.
You do not have to submit a separate application for this purpose.
The elections to the district councils in Vienna and the elections to the Vienna City Council always take place on the same day.
